Man is charged with murder during a BBQ chicken argument

A suspect in a murder in Detroit who allegedly locked himself in a home with a kidnapped child has reportedly been brought into custody and is facing multiple charges, according to the authorities.

Following an argument at a barbeque, Deveius Monta Weathers, 29, is accused of murdering Ronnie Charles Ray II, 31.

He is also suspected of escaping from a home where officers found him on Monday, the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office confirmed Newsweek in an email on Friday.

Grilled chicken apparently played a role in the argument between Weathers and Ray, according to Fox 2 News.

The shooting in Detroit was one of the most terrible gun violence incidents to occur in the United States this year.

The Gun Violence Archive reports that the US has already had about 29,000 gun-related fatalities in 2022. Compared to 2020, this is down from roughly 19,400.
