The Chiefs released the quarterback on Saturday afternoon.
Tuesday is the deadline for the Kansas City Chiefs to complete their 53-man roster.
To execute this, they are releasing one of their quarterbacks ahead of schedule.
On Saturday, according to the Chiefs, five players were waived and released. One of them was a rookie quarterback named Dustin Crum.
Crum was signed by the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent out of Kent State after the 2022 NFL Draft.
He had just finished a fantastic season with the Golden Flashes in which he set a school record for passing yards and won the MAC MVP award.
Due to a strong season, Crum received an invitation to the NFL Scouting Combine, where he made an impression with a 4.75 40-yard sprint.
Crum would only be competing for the position of Patrick Mahomes' backup quarterback because Chad Henne had already been given that title.
