Warner Bros Discovery defers HBO Max launch in India
Due to a change in the media conglomerate's plans for the streaming business, Warner Bros Discovery has delayed the launch of SVOD service HBO Max in India.
In India, the company already operates the discovery+ streaming platform.
Saugata Mukherjee, the new Head of Content for HBO Max India, has submitted his resignation.
The HBO Max India team will most likely be absorbed into the Warner Bros Discovery system.
According to another source, the company will begin seeding HBO Max content on the discovery+ platform.
Its relationship with Disney Star began in 2015, when it signed a programming agreement with the media network for the exclusive screening of HBO content on both TV and digital platforms.
Malhotra left HBO Max in December after only seven months with the streaming service.
